"No reason to live," Cherie cried, "now I have you."

    "No reason to live," Cherie cried, "unless I have you."

    "No reason to live," Cherie cried, "if I lose you."

    "No reason to live," Cherie cried, "since I've lost you."

    "No reason to cry," Cherie wept, "now I have you."

    "Every reason to cry," Cherie laughed, "now I have you."

    "Every reason to laugh," Cherie cried, "now I have you."

    "No reason to die," Cherie cried, "now I have you." (That's the reader's orginal expectation.)
